AAM TALEEM is established by a group of young of energetic members who are highly motivated and committed for contributing their time. Their skills and energies are devoted to the development and empowerment of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable communities throughout Kashmir and addressing education, social, culture, political awareness, poverty issues and gender based discriminations.
Education is the corner stone of any successful nation. At the heart of most thriving global economies lies a dynamic educational system which prepares their youth to compete with the best in the world. There is no doubt that prosperity of nations now depends solely on the intellectual quality of its human resource and investing in high quality education is synonymous with investing in the future of a nation. Unfortunately, this aspect in Pakistan has been ignored ever-since its independence. Quality education remains the prerogative of children drawn from a thin layer of upper crust of Pakistani Society. 70% of our people living in villages are totally deprived of any quality schooling and consequently can play little role in national policies and its development.
This educational apartheid, with a tiny little elite perpetually dominating country’s social life, its polity and economy, is a sure recipe for social conflicts between the masses and the elite. The current social and sectarian tension and resort to fundamentalist tendencies by the youth, especially from remote and under-developed areas are manifestation of the impact of prevailing archaic system of education for vast majority of our youth in underprivileged areas. It was these harsh realities that motivated the Founders of AAM TALEEM to make a beginning towards educating and grooming the brightest children from rural areas in the hope that these children will one day become role models for their communities by emerging as high class citizens who can demonstrate quality leadership in diverse fields. Moreover, AAM TALEEM also focuses on addressing Education development, Social, Culture, Environmental, Political awareness, Men & women Empowerment and Gender based discriminations.
Type & Nature of Organization
AAM TALEEM is a development organization. It’s a non-government, not-for-profit and nonsectarian, non-partisan organization working for the development and empowerment of socially disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in Kashmir and addressing education development, social, culture, political awareness, poverty issues and gender based discriminations. It’s a human-centered NGO. AAM TALEEM could also be labeled as an implementing organization which designs and implements various developmental projects with the financial and technical support of international donor agencies and the government.

MISSION STATEMENT
To create harmony and peace in society through education and support health, environment, poverty-free, empowered & democratic society in Kashmir; which is guided by the values of equity, accountability, inclusion and respect for community & impoverished minorities.
Governance
AAM TALEEM is governed by its Board of Directors (BoD). The Board is the key policy making and governance body of the Foundation and works independently. It formulates and approves policies and organizational systems and evaluates the overall performance of AAM TALEEM on period basis. The BoD consists of 10 members from 10 different districts of AJK and is headed by its Chairperson. The Foundation’s board of directors comprises of development professionals, intellectuals, academicians, activists and media persons. The Board works in the guidelines of the Board Policies Manual.
